презентация The Amiret El Fhoul Fossiliferous Site
The Amiret El Fhoul fossil site, located within the Governorate of Monastir, stands as a remarkable repository of marine fossils, prominently featuring bivalves and gastropods. This study aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the marine fossil assemblages found at this site, employing both surface and deep fossil sampling techniques to elucidate the diversity and distribution of these taxa. Surface sampling involved systematic collection in the fossil site, while deep fossil sampling targeted stratigraphic units through excavation and core sampling. The findings reveal a rich diversity of fossilized specimens spanning various geological epochs, offering insights into the evolutionary history and paleoenvironmental conditions of the region. Surface sampling unveiled a wealth of well-preserved fossils, providing valuable data on the present-day distribution and abundance of marine taxa. Conversely, deep fossil sampling delved into hidden layers of sedimentary formations, uncovering a deeper temporal record of marine life and geological processes. This integrated approach, combining surface and deep fossil sampling methodologies, enhances our understanding of the paleobiogeography and paleoecology of the Amiret El Fhoul fossil site, emphasizing its significance as a key area for marine fossil research in North Africa.
